5 Things: Open Carry Bill, Pasadena Marathon Road Closures

Important upcoming local stories and events.

1) The Christmas Tree Lane Association is looking for volunteers to help with tree maintenance on June 4.  Though it is far away from the holiday season, the trees still need help looking the best that they can.  Elizabeth Nelson, from the group, says they need help with "weed pulling, ivy cutting, and checking for fungus infections."  The work will be from 8 a.m. to noon with the usual coffee and donuts and free lunch afterwards.

2) The upcoming Town Council elections in June will feature an extra day of pre-election voting on Tuesday, June 7.  The main voting day is Saturday, June 11.  The Town Council acts as an intermediary between the county and Altadena residents, and though it is not the officially elected government of Altadena, it takes up many resident issues.

3) The Pasadena Marathon is this upcoming Sunday, which means a whole lot of street closures for anyone who might want to travel south on that day.  You can find all the details on how to navigate the city here and a map with the information is attached to this article.  Bottom line: consider not going to Pasadena on Sunday unless you have important business there, and if you need to get to the freeway, consider exiting via the far West or East of Altadena.
