Altadena Organizations to Celebrate Food Day

A national movement, Food Day focuses on healthy, sustainable, affordable food.

Wednesday is Food Day and while it may just sound like an invitation to stuff your face, it’s a national celebration and movement focusing on healthy, affordable and sustainable food.

For those who want to commemorate the occasion locally, the Arroyo Food Co-op is holding a free screening of "Fresh", an "underground documentary that explores sustainable agriculture and depicts the farmers, activists, and entrepreneurs who are reinventing America’s food systems," according to the Arroyo Food Co-op website.

Prior to the screening, representatives from Altadena and Pasadena organizations working toward the goals of Food Day will be on hand to make brief presentations and provide resources.

Altadena Farmers' Market

The Altadena Farmers’ Market also happens Wednesday and is a local hub of sustainable, healthy, affordable food. Last week they added three new vendors you can check out here.

The farmers’ market will also be at a Los Angeles Food Policy Council event at LA City Hall, they shared on their facebook page, if you want to celebrate Food Day Downtown.
