Local Bloggers Wanted at Altadena Patch

Beginning May 4, Altadena Patch will be making room for local bloggers on the site, and we're looking for people interested in writing posts on the site.

What are we looking for in site bloggers?  People with something interesting to say about local community issues who want to engage with the community.  Specifically, we'd like people who are interested in topics like:

• Local arts and culture
• Outdoors, hiking, or wildlife issues
• Police, crime, or public safety issues
• Family or parenting issues
• Altadena history
• Education issues
• Student or teenage perspectives
• Food
• Health and Fitness
• Sports
• People with interesting crafts or hobbies
• Any other perspective, issue, or idea that would hold interest for local readers

So what would blogging for Altadena Patch mean for you?  Well, it wouldn't be a reporting job, so no requirement to check in with local sources, work long hours, or read tedious government documents.  Instead, we want writers who feel they have ideas to share with their fellow Altadena residents.

Unlike with our reporters and columnists, bloggers do not get paid for their work.  But the good news is there isn't any requirement to do any reporting, or put up with an editor changing your work, or setting deadlines.

You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.

Patch won't own what you post, so you can re-post your entries to other blogs.

My role as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to Altadena Patch to ensure they are appropriate, and I might correct obvious typos, too.  Other than that, we're just acting as a host for your writing.
