The Pasadena Senior Center is holding the popular Senior Curriculum winter term series Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The series began Jan. 21. The next presentation will be held Jan. 28.
Visiting experts will offer perspectives into their passions every Tuesday:
- Jan. 28 – Documentary film “Blackfish” about the issue of keeping killer whales in captivity presented by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, the film’s director
- Feb. 4 – Pakistan presented by Cameron Munter, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan
- Feb. 11 – Hitler’s Furies presented by Wendy Lower, professor of history, Claremont McKenna College and author of “Hitler’s Furies: German Women in the Nazi Killing Fields”
- Feb. 18 – Junipero Serra: California’s Founding Father presented by Steven Hackel, professor of history, UC Riverside
- Feb. 25 – The Current State of Al Qaeda and Some Thoughts on Security and Privacy presented by Andrew Liepman, senior analyst, Rand Corporation
- March 4 – Where is the Nazi Looted Art? Presented by Jonathon Petropoulos, professor of European history, Claremont McKenna College
Anthropological and Evolutionary Perspectives on the Human Life Span will be explored every Thursday by visiting experts in this field:
- Jan. 23 – The Evolution of the Mind presented by Craig Stanford, professor of biology, USC
- Jan. 30 – Evolution and Conservation in the Channel Islands, America’s Galapagos presented by Suzanne Edmands, professor of biology, USC
- Feb. 6 – Young Children’s Understanding of Other Persons presented by Henrike Moll, professor of psychology, USC
- Feb. 13 – Nature and Culture in Madagascar presented by Craig Stanford, professor of biology, USC
- Feb. 20 – Margaret Mead and the Media: The Making of an American Icon presented by Nancy Lutkehaus, professor of anthropology, USC
- Feb. 27 – Truth and Authenticity in African American Standup Comedy presented by Lanita Jacobs, professor of anthropology, USC
- March 6 – The Science of Happiness presented by Jesse Graham, professor of psychology, USC
Each class runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Individual talks are $10 each, one curriculum session if $55, with the entire term being $100.

The registration form should be brought to the front desk along with payment when attendees arrive for their first class.
