‘Snow’ Comes to Altadena

A home on New York Drive was turned into a winter wonderland for a film shoot. Did you see it?

Are you ready for winter? An Altadena home definitely was Friday as it was covered in “snow” and decked out in Christmas decorations.

A film crew set up the snowy scene on New York Drive Friday around 11:20 a.m., according to reader Lori Paul, who shared the photos with a Chaney Trail Yahoo Group and gave Patch permission to share the wintry images.

“It was pretty astonishing to suddenly encounter all that ‘snow’ on a warm day in Southern California!” Paul shared.

Did you see the snowy house? If so, add your photos to this gallery (just make sure you’re signed in to Patch first).

Does anyone know what the movie/commercial will be?

Charming setting. Love the pics. Does anyone know if the "snow" is harmful to the environment? I assume that it got washed off, and some proceeded down into our storm drains

Hi Melody. I just noticed that the Patch posted my photos. I don't believe the fake snow dissolves and gets washed off into drains. I believe it is some sort of biodegradable product. The staff were sweeping it around with brooms. In past film shoots, the artificial snow gets vacuumed back into bags for use elsewhere, though I don't know that for sure regarding this particular site.
