Pasadena Obon Festival

Obon is the Japanese name for a Buddhist festival that honors the memory of relatives and friends who have passed away.   The Pasadena Buddhist Temple welcomes all to attend this "Celebration of Joy" in graditude to all of our predecessors who have enabled us to enjoy the life we live today.  The Festival centers around the Bon Odori (Obon Dances). Obon odori is to dance for joy. Everyone is invited to join in to "just dance" and be accepted as we are.Dancing starts at 6:30 pm.

Dance practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 pm in the Temple parking lot beginning June 19.  No experience necessary.

In addition to the dancing, there will be food booths, martial arts demonstrations, exhibits of bonsai and ikebana (flower arranging), craft vendors, a silent auction and taiko (Japanese drum)  performances at 7:00 pm.
