Video: Christmas Tree Lane

Celebrating the 90th lighting this year, attendees talk about their long-term experiences looking forward to Christmas Tree Lane and its volunteer-driven community draw.

The Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Ceremony has become about much more than just flicking a switch and turning on some lights.

There is a crafts festival, a ton of holiday-related booths, Santa Claus, and much more.  With hundreds of people turning out, it is a rare Altadena event that draws a really big crowd.

Unlike some past year, this year's ceremony got truly nice weather, giving Christmas a Southern California charm, and the crowd definitely took advantage of it.  Take a look below:

Absolutley AWESOME! Thank you, thank you Altadena Patch for the fantastic video. It truly depicts what we (the Christmas Tree Lane Association) work so hard for all year long. A tradition to be upheld for many years to come, but, only with the help from the community (and people like you getting the word out). We felt very fortunate to have perfect weather for the 90th Lighting of the Lane and our first successful Winter Arts & Crafts Festival. It seems like almost everyone enjoyed the festivities, choirs and the John Muir Alumni Drum Corp. I even saw individuals outside their homes with their phones up when the drummers were marching by so their friends could hear. Thank you everyone for your support. Here's the schedule for the lights: Dec 11 2010 thru Jan 2 2011, and Jan 6 & 7 2011 Lights are on from Dusk to 10pm Weekdays and Dusk to midnight on Holidays and Weekends

Linda, so glad you enjoyed the video! I'm glad we included the story of the Association, even though we dropped by unannounced to cover the event. We hope to be back for the volunteer efforts breaking down the lights in February and then hanging them up again in October/November.

You can drop by anytime, Aaron!! We'll let you know about the "take down", bulb testing, line rebuilding, ground clearing and "lights up" throughout the year! Hopefully, our efforts for a larger Winter Festival and parade will get underway earlier in the year.
