Anti-Gun Program Dedicated to Slain Altadena Professor

An anti-gun program at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena has been dedicated to a professor at the school who was fatally shot at a party in 2010, reports the Pasadena Star-News.

Schureman, 50, had taught at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design for most of his professional life, following in the footsteps of his father, who was also a long-time teacher at the school. Following the shooting, hundreds of students, faculty and family members gathered at the school to remember him.

His assailant  Westake Village resident Steven Honma, was sentenced last year to 21 years in prison after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the case.

The shooting occurred at a party after Honma, a neighbor of the host was asked to leave.  He returned with two guns and a knife and discharged a weapon, shooting Schureman.
