Inner-City to the out of doors - reaching the under-served youth

Altadena resident, Charles Thomas, a product of an African American father and a Japanese mother grew up on the mean streets of East L A and Pasadena, an ex-gang member; He turned his life around through his experiences with Outward Bound Adventures (OBA).  OBA is an environmental, educational youth organization that provides meaningful nature-based education that promotes positive self-development, environmental responsibility, and outdoor career exposure for at-risk and urban youth.  With two BA's and a Master’s degree, he spent 16 years as the executive director of OBA.  Charles will be the guest speaker for the Redlands Conservancy on October 10th at 5:30 pm.  He will be discussing the solution to getting inner-city and under-served youth of color into the outdoors and why they don't connect to the land.    We hope you will attend this event and bring others.  For more information contact Charles Thomas at: (626)818-1564
