Town Council Preview: Elections, Candidate's Forum, Liquor Permit

This week's Altadena Town Council meeting will include a forum for ATC candidates, an election update, and discussion of a proposed liquor permit.

Tuesday's Altadena Town Council meeting will include discussion of a liquor permit at a proposed Indian restaurant, an update on June's Town Council elections, and a candidates forum for Town Council candidates.

Liquor Permit

The liquor permit is for a proposed Indian restaurant and retail complex at 2535 E. Washington Boulevard.  The issue has been heard twice by the County's Regional Planning Commission and once by the Town Council's Land Use Committee.

The design and building permits for the project have already been completed, but the permit to serve alcohol is a key part of the project, according to the project applicant, because revenue from alcohol sales are part of the projected revenues presented to the project's financiers.

The Land Use Committee voted in favor of granting a permit that would limit sales hours to midnight on weekends and 11 p.m. on weekday nights.  The county will ultimately decide on the permit.

Town Council Elections

Candidates who have registered for the June Altadena Town Council are scheduled for a forum at the Tuesday night meeting.

However, according to a list of candidates on the Altadenablog, .

Eric Pierce, the chair of the Town Council's Election Committee, is scheduled to make a presentation on Tuesday about the election.
