Christmas Tree Lane Lighting, Winter Arts and Crafts Festival Saturday

Food trucks, handmade items and singing groups are in store for Saturday to usher in the 92nd annual Christmas Tree Lane lighting.

It’s that time! Christmas Tree Lane is here for its 92nd year of holiday lights magic, thanks to the work of dedicated volunteers.

See video of a previous Christmas Tree Lane here.

Here’s the scoop on all to expect on Saturday, from the Winter Arts and Crafts Festival to the Christmas Tree Lane Lighting:

The Winter Arts and Crafts Festival (15 vendors selling handmade items) begins the event at 2 p.m. in the Altadena Library parking lot, 600 E. Mariposa St., Altadena on the corner of Santa Rosa Avenue and Mariposa Street.

The Lighting Ceremony begins at 6 p.m., but due to limited parking, and the fact that Santa Rosa Avenue will be closed to traffic after 4 p.m., people arrive early and visit the Festival.

Food trucks begin at 2 p.m. and into the evening so folks can come for a meal, and then see the lights on the Lane.

Performances will include:

  • Blair JROTC Color Guard
  • Singing of the national anthem by the Blair IB Singers
  • Local musicians Daniel Landau and Smithfield Bargain
  • John Muir Alumni Drum Corps will lead the crowd down the Lane

Also, there will not be a marching band. The John Muir Alumni "Drum Corps" will be leading everyone down the Lane at the end of the ceremony. At the Winter Festival, there will be Christmas Carolers and a Brass Choir performing throughout the day.

Will Santa be there?
Linda Lane-White December 07, 2012 at 10:25 PM
You're welcome, Jessica! Hugo, I'm not sure if our 6'9" elf from last year will be Santa or an elf again. I think it was going to depend on the availability of a suit. But, you won't miss him - as tall as he is.

A giant elf works for me. Thanks.

The Lane is open every evening beginning at around 6pm and ending around 11 or 12. They will be on every night through, I believe, the first week of January. If we don't have enough funds generated from membership donations, they will go out just after New Years.
