A body was found Saturday morning near the bottom of a Southern California Edison tower around the ridgeline west of Las Flores Canyon, near Lake Avenue and Loma Alta Drive in Altadena, according to authorities.
Fire Station 11 in Altadena got the call about the body's discovery at 11:45 a.m. Saturday. It took investigators about 30 minutes to travel on foot to the body's location with the aid of a hiker, as it was not near any developed trails, said Captain Jeff Sims of the L.A. County Fire Department.
Sims said the body appeared to be male, and the investigation is now being handled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The department is investigating the death as an apparent suicide, according to Lt. Mary Leef of the Sheriff's Department.
Trails are about as safe as trails are......bad things happen? Very rare. Much better odds of falling, twisting an ankle, or having some other hikers dog bite you....all of which has happened to me.
