Homes Evacuated for Bomb Scare Thursday

An Altadena Patch reader has sent in photos of a bomb scare that had several homes evacuated around the intersection of Santa Anita and Poppyfields and Thursday morning.

Altadena Patch reader and contributor Nina Malone sent in the following photos of the Sheriff's Department explosives team evaluating a suspected bomb near the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Poppyfields Drive on Thursday morning.

Malone writes that she and some of her neighbors were evacuated from their homes for several hours - the incident ended with the bomb squad detonating whatever potentialluy suspicious materials they found, Malone said.

Lt. Tonya Edwards, of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station said she was aware of the incident but did not have details.  Lt. Michael White, the public information officer of the Altadena Sheriff's Station was not able to be reached for comment Friday afternoon.
