Monday's Shooting Likely Gang-Related, According to Detectives

A non-fatal shooting that happened on Mariposa Street on Monday was likely the result of gang-on-gang violence, according to the Sheriff's Department.

A shooting that took place on Monday afternoon near the intersection of Mariposa Street and McNally Avenue was likely gang-related, according to Lt. Michael White of the Altadena Sheriff's Station.

The shooting, reported yesterday on the Pasadena Star-News and Altadenablog, was a drive-by shooting that left a male victim with two bullet wounds in the torso, according to White.

The victim, who detectives believe is a gang member, has not been sharing information with investigators, White said.  Detectives believe that a rival gang likely targeted the victim.

White said he does not know if the crime was a retaliation for any past specific shooting.  There was a that detectives believe were done by rival gang members.

The victim of Monday's shooting is still in the hospital as of Tuesday morning, White said.
