The Morning After the Storm (Photo Gallery)

It's a real mess in Altadena.

Downed power lines, trees, debris, no traffic lights - Altadena is a real mess today.

Also of note, I stopped by Christmas Tree Lane to assess the damage and it looks like most of the holiday lights are intact, not too many downed branches. I'll try to find out more about what the storm will mean from the lighting ceremony soon.

You read my mind - I heard on KPCC that Christmas Tree Lane had a tree down and another was split. Are those avocados in your back yard? Looks like quite a crop - looks like you will be making a lot of guacamole soon ....

Yup, they are avocados. Guacamole's on me. I also heard that KPCC report but when I was over there I did not see the downed tree. Possible they hauled it off. There was a big tree on private property at the Girl Scot camp that was downed.

For those looking for a place to work and need power, Sidewalk Cafe has power, coffee, and Wi-Fi

Looking at Star-News photo galleries, I think Pasadena might have gotten hit even worse than Altadena. Or maybe just a little more unlucky in having fallen trees hit so many buildings. (http://lang.pasadenastarnews.com/photos/photos.asp?a=1371568#id=1371568&num=15)

Note that the large American flag at El Patron (Altadena/Lake) is torn. Who do we contact to replace it? VFW? County?
Dan Abendschein (Editor) December 01, 2011 at 11:39 PM
Ed is it on county property?
ed meyers December 01, 2011 at 11:45 PM
Dan - dunno. Flag pole is on the grass. I'm more certain than not that it's county or Metropolitan Transportation Authority property.

I have a new 5' x 8' flag I can donate if needed.

Oh! Looks a scary storm! I hope nobody was injured! So sad to see beautiful trees fallen.

We have a new backyard thanks to the wind - our fence is now a boardwalk, now people will believe me when I say live in Altadena-by-the-Sea!
Dan Abendschein (Editor) December 02, 2011 at 08:34 PM
Hey khadija, let's see a photo! Or email me one and I'll post it.
