Robo-Call Banking Scam Targets Consumers
The recorded messages attempt to gather personal banking information.
District Attorney Steve Cooley issued a warning against these recorded messages that trick consumers into divulging information such as their PINs, along with credit and debit card numbers, by stating that the messages are from major banks.
The messages go on to say that there is an issue with the banking network and verification of personal banking information is required.
“Consumers need to be extremely wary of telephone calls requesting sensitive information about banking or credit cards,” Cooley said in a press release.
