Sheriff's Figures Continue to Show Property Crime Drop in Altadena

Property crimes are down about 30 percent through October 2011 compared with the first 10 months of 2010, department figures show. Violent crime shows drops in some categories but increases in others.

As has been the trend throughout 2011, figures have shown a drop in crime for this year compared to 2010.

The latest figures, which were released Friday, cover through October, and compared to the first 10 months of 2010, show an overall 31.4 percent decline in property crimes and a 17.4 percent drop in violent crime.

The drops in property crime are not surprising, considering that in the first six months of 2010 Altadena saw a tremendous increase in burglaries and other property crimes.  Still, this year's figures now show a 10 percent decrease compared to five years ago.
