Small Fire in Cobb Estate Early Monday Morning

About a quarter acre was burned, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A brush fire in the at the top of Lake Avenue burned about a quarter-acre of the popular hiking area, according to Inspector Don Kunitomi of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 4:20 a.m., and the fire was out about half an hour later, according to Kumitomi, who described it as "no big deal."

Several local residents noted on a local email forum that they smelled smoke early this morning and had heard fire engines en route to the area.
