Authorities today identified a young man killed in a shooting in Pasadena that left two other people wounded.
Steven Ascencio, 18, of Pasadena died at the scene of the shooting about 10 p.m. Monday, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. The crime occurred at El Sereno Avenue and Cedar Street, said said Pasadena police Lt. John Dewar.
The shooting may have been a drive-by, which was unusual for the area, Pasadena police Lt. John Dewar said. A late-model white SUV was seen at the time. There was no suspect description available, Dewar said.
Witnesses heard gunfire, and officers found the three victims, police said. Broadcast reports from the scene indicated the survivors were a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man. The severity of their wounds was not immediately known.
