Wind Advisory Issued for Foothills, San Gabriel Valley, Power Outages in Altadena

Strong Santa Ana winds are expected to hit Los Angeles County mountains through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Updated 1:41 a.m.: SCE is reporting 398 customers without power in the area.

Updated 11:30 a.m: The utility now estimates only 97 are without power, according to the outages map

Updated 10:37 a.m: Southern California Edison estimates 750 are without power in Altadena, according to their website. The outage is centered around Fair Oaks Avenue, a few blocks south of Loma Alta.

Original: The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Santa Ana winds blowing at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. 

"The strongest winds will be focused below passes and canyons across Northwest San Fernando Valley as well as the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley this morning," the NWS reported.

Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles such as trucks or campers, according to the NWS. Officials suggest that locals use extra caution while driving. 

In Altadena, the winds are forecast to peak on Thursday night.  The full forecast for the next two days is listed below:

Thursday: Sunny with gusty winds. High 69F. Winds NNE at 20 to 30 mph. Stronger winds in and below canyons and passes.

Friday: Sunny, along with a few afternoon clouds. High 69F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
