County Approves Amended Agreement For Mass Notification System Services

County officials approved, last Tuesday, an amended agreement for continued use of Mass Notification System services for countywide emergencies.

The agreement with Twenty First Century Communications, Inc. would provide further service for another two years with Alert LA, from February 17, 2014 to February 16, 2016, with a one-year optional renewal period, officials said.

The mass notification system, known as Alert LA County, or simply Alert LA, is operated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. It was designed to notify county residents and businesses of emergencies.

The Office of Emergency Management will assume administrative management of the program during the agreement extension, officials said.

The maintenance fee for the amended agreement totals $43,645, officials said.
