Navigating Open Enrollment

With two schools scheduled to in Altadena next year, local families may be especially interested in how to apply to any other preferred schools in the .

To that end, on Tuesday, the Pasadena Educational Network, a local non-profit parent's group, is hosting an event called "Navigating Open Enrollment," which provides instruction on how best to get a child into a chosen school.

The district's open enrollment policy means that any parent in Altadena can apply to have her child placed in any school in the district.

PUSD representatives will be discussing the procedure for how to apply at Tuesday's session, and will also hold a question and answer session.

The PUSD board has recommended that displaced families from and elementary schools get priority in choosing new schools, so Tuesday's session could be especially relevant for families affected by those closures.
