Nothing generates conversation quite like preseason top 10 lists, and Tuesday the Pasadena Star-News gave everyone a sneak peak with who it views as the top five teams in the West San Gabriel Valley (the full top 10 won't be available to the public until the end of August when the Star-News' PrepXtra Magazine prints).

Muir fans will be happy to see the Mustangs ranked No. 4 behind Monrovia, Pacific League rival Arcadia and St. Francis in the preseason rankings.

Kevon Seymour is being recruited on the defensive end, but look for his versatility to lend itself offensively. He can play multiple positions (QB, WR, RB). Seymour already has been invited to the Army All-American Bowl and has offers from top Division I schools, including Florida. Tairen Owens also will see plenty of attention from the recruiting circle.

Muir always is an interesting team to predict. There's never any shortage of athleticism at the skill positions, but depth and size on the offensive and defensive lines tend to be a yearly question mark for the program.

Muir's ability to get solid play in the trenches should go a long way toward determining whether Seymour and Owens can turn the Mustangs into Pacific League contenders.
